From Live Search to Bing, the renamed search engine officially went live in May of 2009. The search engine has hopes of competing with other search engine giants. Before Bing, it was Live Search, Windows Live Search and MSN search. The MSN search engine came about in1999, and used other engines to help produce results. Soon this gave way to Windows Live Search that generated its own search results. It became Windows Live Search in 2006 and soon became just Live Search in 2007. With Bing, it is an entirely new user interface, with maps and videos.
Bing had programmed the search engine so when a search is conducted related subjects are displayed. Searches not specific enough will generate sub-categories on the subject. MSN of course wants a bigger share, and it appears to be working. Market shares have steadily increased for the search engine and are up over 12 percent. Bing will provide answers directly without farming out to places that can provide the answers. Mathematical questions can be answered as well as sports scores along with stock quotes.
Bing can be customized to provide users with local information such as weather or news. Bing currently is number three behind Yahoo and Google. It is all about marketing and SEO, search engine optimization. Google tried to level the playing field to give the little person an opportunity. Good web site content will generate customer traffic to a web site. Web surfers want results now and results that reflect what it is they are searching. Individuals do not blame the web sites for key word stuffing they tend to blame the search engine.
